Stop Sign: Safety Device on the Road

The stop sign is a red and white octagonal signs have the  word "STOP" written in large letters. As one of the most common traffic signals on the road, stop signs work to help control traffic and give pedestrians the right of way.  As an essential safety device on the roads, stop signs are needed to help with the flow of traffic. 

If used properly, they prevent accidents and injuries at intersections where there are no traffic lights or visibility is limited. How do you use a stop sign properly?
